Problem-Based Learning: An Ideal Approach For BC's New Curriculum

A little girl discovers a penquin on a beach in New Zealand and decides to keep it as a pet. She starts feeding it peanut butter sandwiches and emails your class to find out how to catch it! Come experience and explore this powerful form of inquiry that combines student engagement with academic rigor. In this session you will: explore the key components of a problem-based learning unit; work through a PBL unit together; brainstorm possible scenarios to take back to your classroom; and, discover how PBL directly links to the core competencies in BC’s new curriculum.
