ABCs For Reading: Avoiding Pitfalls, Building Strong Reading Foundations, Correcting Deficits

This workshop offers a collection of teacher-tested strategies for strengthening students' foundational reading skills coupled with highlights from Gail's on-going literature study into neurodevelopmental research that scaffolds the reading process for students from preschool to puberty.  Topics addressed are drawn from personal experience in the remedial setting and recommended practices gleaned from a wide range of education researchers and writers.  This session is applicable to teachers working with primary students or those educators working in a learning support role with older students who experience reading delays.
