World Music influences popular music and culture. Join in the excitement by playing high-energy, traditional music from Africa and Brazil, focusing on how diverse forms of music can be used to creatively link learning objects across the curriculum. In this interactive session participants will see a wide variety of instruments and partake in whole group, cooperative, and active learning environments. By the end of the workshop participants will be able to apply practical ideas for improving class listening skills through calls and responses, demonstrate teamwork through ensemble playing, express themselves through music, and make connections between diverse genres of music, cultures and curriculum.
